Too many road bikes are not used as much as the owners would like to.
One-piece solution designed to get the best out of your road bike by adapting its pedals to non-cycling shoes.
The Pedal Plate is the only compact, affordable solution adapting your bikes Shimano SPD-SL or Look Keo pedals for use with all types of shoes. The concept of the project was born once our client Marc van der Heide decided to bring a simple, low-cost solution that adds value to a cyclist’s road bike. With this idea in his mind he approached Local Kickstarter, which helped him to bring his idea to production. Local Kickstarter assisted with sketching of the concept, designing it into a 3D program, 3D printing the prototype, and testing.
- Simplicity works
One-piece, robust and affordable solution to enhance safety and comfort.
No compromises by chasing “one solution fits all”. The Pedal Plate is purely focussed on delivering the optimal solution for each of the Shimano SPD-SL and the Look Keo(2Max) pedal systems.
The Pedal Plate will not change your pedals center of gravity. No hanging upside-down so you can use the same routine for bringing your foot to the Pedal Plate as you do with your cycling shoes on.
- Light and compact
A set of Pedal Plates only weighs 41grams and is very compact. That makes them easy to store or take with you in your saddle bag, jeans, jacket or jersey.
- Raised funding on Kickstarter and was successfully funded with €6,921 out of €6500 goal.

For me it was very usefull. I did have the idea for the Pedal Plate, but lacked the skills and resources for 3D-designing and -printing to take the idea further. Teaming up with Localmakers I was able to develop, test and adjust prototypes and proceed to where we are now and that is ready for production!
